‘Heiter bis Wolkig’ translates to sunny with cloudy intervals/ cloudy with sunny intervals.
As a commentary on the current, post-2008 conflictual relationships across Europe, which – at least partially – relates to linguistic misunderstandings cum spatial separation, our intervention regarding the school consists of a space of conversation based on the typology of a bar, which positions itself within a longstanding tradition of artist-run bars.
Precarious times of uncertain futures require different forms of discursive spaces. Instead of formalized institutional conditions, the project claims normative, popular spaces of conversation as a form of practice.
Our physical contribution to the gallery space consists of a single bar element – which acts as central assembly for Future Climates – as well as a shopfront-sign, a smoke-machine, and a double neon strip-light.
This physical set-up is being delivered in tandem with a protocol of use, added to the window in order to communicate a spatial time-code:
Private room 2pm-7pm
Hosted by Antonia Alampi & Iliana Fokianaki
Public room 7pm-2am
Hosted by rotation
As a general rule, the practice of hosting will switch from institution to open public at a set hour every day.
This role can also be assumed by participating members of the project.
